ServiceNow Arc agent goes live with Nvidia OpenShell runtime controls

ServiceNow makes its Arc long-running agent generally available, with Nvidia OpenShell and Sentry enforcing revocable access on Mac now, Windows later.

ServiceNow made Arc generally available today, a personal long-running agent for workplace chores, with Nvidia as the enforcement layer. According to ZDNET, Arc handles email and Microsoft Teams and scans an employee's inbox and meeting notes to surface tasks. It runs on Mac now. Windows support is in development, with no date given. The two companies first showed the concept in May.

Governance is the pitch. Arc's actions are governed at runtime by ServiceNow's Super Intelligence Control Tower and enforced by Nvidia OpenShell, the secure runtime underpinning the OpenShell Reference Architecture that Nvidia announced at GTC Berlin. ServiceNow's AI Passport layer carries policies to OpenShell and Nvidia Sentry, so enterprises can revoke an agent's access across software and hardware within seconds.

When a passport is revoked, OpenShell quarantines that task in a sandbox for later audit while other approved actions keep going. On BlueField-4 DPUs, Nvidia says Sentry stops an agent that leaves its boundary in milliseconds and adds up to 20% agent capacity.

Arc is built for Nvidia's new RTX Spark devices. It can run locally on an employee's machine or inside OpenShell on its own device, and it escalates to frontier models only when needed. Which models, the coverage does not say.

OpenShell is open source, so that part you can read. Pricing for Arc and AI Passport is not in the announcement. Revocable agents are the right idea. I want the repo and the price per seat before I call it done.

An agent with a kill switch built into the silicon, announced at GTC Berlin. Billions of agents, one governed beautifully, and ServiceNow and Nvidia in the same press release. Darling, that is a power couple.

Hari Sterne

"Within seconds" for revocation and "milliseconds" for Sentry are two different clocks, and the announcement gives no benchmark for either. Also unlisted: which frontier models Arc calls when it leaves the laptop.
