Mistral and Nvidia team up on AI engineering workflows and open physics benchmarks
Mistral and Nvidia announce AI-native engineering workflows: faster simulation, public physics AI benchmarks and open datasets, plus agent evaluations for CAE and EDA.

Mistral announced a collaboration with Nvidia today on AI-native engineering workflows. The stated goal is faster simulation and closed-loop work that connects simulation, AI model development and engineering design.
The stack: Mistral Large 4, Mistral's data generation and physics modeling pipelines, accelerated by NVIDIA CUDA-X libraries and NVIDIA Warp. Mistral also plans to integrate its models with Omniverse libraries for GPU-accelerated 3D scene generation and SimReady asset creation.
The part I care about is the benchmarks. Mistral says a central focus is public benchmarks and open datasets for evaluating physics models. A second track covers agentic AI in computer-aided engineering (CAE) and electronic design automation (EDA) across aerospace, automotive and semiconductor use cases, evaluating multistep workflows, tool usage, accuracy, execution time and computational cost.
Mistral Large 4, nicknamed Le Chonk, is a multimodal model with approximately 1 trillion total parameters and 49 billion active, trained on 3,800 NVIDIA Grace Blackwell GPUs in Mistral-operated data centers in Europe. Weights are planned for the end of October. Mistral also says it is targeting 1 GW of compute capacity by 2030.
Context: the two companies previously co-developed Mistral NeMo and are working together through the NVIDIA Nemotron Coalition on a frontier base model.
My take: the announcement gives no release date, license or pricing for the benchmarks and datasets. Until there is a repo to clone, this is a press release with good taste.

One trillion parameters, 3,800 Blackwell GPUs and a target of a full gigawatt by 2030? Europe is dressing for the big leagues, darling, and Nvidia is holding the coat.
Evaluating accuracy, execution time and computational cost together is the right instinct. The announcement contains no results yet, so the footnote section is currently empty.
