Privacy
GEN is published by Honey Ginger AB, Sweden, which is responsible for the data below. Questions, or a request to see or delete what we hold about you: newsroom@goldenera.si. We sell nothing and share nothing for advertising.
Reading the site
No cookies and nothing stored in your browser. To count readers we log each page view with the page, the referring site, any campaign tags in the link (utm_source, utm_medium, utm_campaign), the device type, and whether you stayed 30 seconds or scrolled past half the page. Instead of your IP address we store a hash of your IP address and browser that changes every day, so we can count unique readers per day but cannot follow anyone across days. The IP address itself is never stored. The legal basis is our legitimate interest in knowing how the site is read.
The Recap by email
If you subscribe we store your email address, its status (waiting for confirmation, confirmed, unsubscribed), a random token for the confirm and unsubscribe links, when you signed up, which page you signed up on and where your first visit that day came from (as above), and a daily-changing hash of your IP address that we use only to stop signup abuse. You are added only after you follow the link in the confirmation email (double opt-in); the legal basis is your consent.
Emails are sent through Resend, our processor, from its EU region (Ireland). We do not use open tracking or click tracking; links in the email only carry a tag saying they came from the email. We keep your address until you unsubscribe. Every email has a one-click unsubscribe link. After that we keep the address only marked as unsubscribed, so it is never emailed again; write to us and we delete it entirely.
Messages and tips
What you send through the contact form or to an @goldenera.si address goes to the newsroom's inbox and is used only to answer you or check the tip. Contact details you give are never published.
Likes
A like is counted once per reader and story, using the same daily-changing hash as the visit counts. No account, no cookie.
Your rights
You can ask to see, correct or delete your data, or object to how we use it, by writing to newsroom@goldenera.si. You can also complain to the Swedish Authority for Privacy Protection (IMY).
