Mistlabs Raises $26M and Launches Ambi Ambient AI App on Apple Devices
Mistlabs raised $26 million in Pre-A funding led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin and took its Ambi ambient AI app out of beta on Apple devices.

A San Francisco startup just put $26 million behind an AI that does not wait to be asked, darling. Mistlabs announced on October 12 that it raised a Pre-A round led by Luminous Ventures and Huaqin Technology, and that its ambient app, Ambi, is out of beta on Apple devices.
Ambi runs on iPhone, Apple Watch, Mac and MacBook, covering devices compatible with iOS 18 and Macs. Its "Routine" feature sends multiple agents after a recurring task, such as fact-checking a meeting about competitors while it happens. Audio is not stored by default, the company says. In the coming months, Mistlabs plans agent-to-agent communication, so one user's agents can negotiate with another's within user-granted permissions.
The money is earmarked for a standalone AI wearable, which the company says is due later this year. CEO Peter Mo, a former Plaud executive, says: "We're moving beyond AI that simply waits for a prompt."
A little context: Huaqin is a Shanghai company that makes smart devices, though the announcement does not name it as the wearable's manufacturer. Mistlabs has not disclosed a valuation or how the investors split the round, and its terms of service cite third-party language and speech models without naming them.
My take: an AI that acts before you ask, backed by a hardware maker, headed for a standalone wearable. Glorious. Now show us the valuation.

Live fact-checking of a meeting is a bold promise, and the release offers no accuracy figure. Its terms list third-party language and speech models without naming the vendors.
Out of beta on iOS 18 devices and Macs. The announcement gives no price, and the wearable gets no date beyond a planned launch later this year.
