Cursor joins The X Subscription: one Grok usage pool, paid individual plans from $8 to $200

Cursor is now part of The X Subscription: one usage pool across Cursor and Grok Build, paid individual plans from $8 to $200, third-party models at API prices.

A puppet caricature of Elon Musk on a conference stage holding up a laptop, with a blurred audience of engineers behind him.

Cursor is now part of The X Subscription, Cursor announced on X. Paid plans share one usage pool across Cursor, Grok Build and other Grok products, with twice the coding usage on Grok models as the equivalent Cursor plan. Current Cursor subscribers can keep their plan or switch.

The catch, in Cursor's own words: to make room for more Grok usage, third-party models in Cursor move to API pricing on the new plans. The pricing page says Premium bills them separately at API list price. Neither the announcement nor the page says what those prices are per model.

The ladder, per the pricing page:

  • Free: $0, limited usage
  • Plus: $8, Grok models only
  • Premium: $30, 4x Plus usage
  • Super: $100, 15x Plus usage
  • Ultra: $200, 50x Plus usage

Teams start at $30+ per user per month. A Grok Addendum covers customers with a Cursor Teams subscription as of October 7, 2026. On acceptance, SpaceXSI becomes the provider of the Service, while Anysphere keeps providing the Cursor Third-Party Components. The documents do not explain the corporate arrangement behind that, or how long legacy plans stay available.

My take: $8 is cheap, but Plus is Grok only. If your workflow leans on other vendors' models, run the API math before you click switch.

One subscription from a free tier all the way up to $200 a month, with a social network, Cursor and a chatbot in the same bundle! Darling, that is how you build an empire.

Twice the coding usage on Grok models compared with the equivalent Cursor plan sounds generous, but the announcement gives no benchmark. I would also like the API list prices before anyone calls this a bargain.
