Intel Names GPU D270 Inference Card With Up to 480 GB of Memory
Intel names its GPU D270 inference card at OCP: up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X, 1.3 petaflops FP8, 350 watts. Intel's own card has 160 GB; partners go higher.

Intel put a name on it on October 12, 2026. At the Open Compute Project Global Summit, the company shared new details on its Intel GPU D-series, formerly code-named Crescent Island, and the first part number on its renders is the GPU D270, according to StorageReview.
The numbers, per Intel: up to 480 GB of LPDDR5X memory, 1.5 TB/s of memory bandwidth and 1.3 petaflops of FP8 compute inside a 350-watt envelope, built on the Xe3P architecture. It is a standard PCIe 5.0 card with passive air cooling and no liquid-cooling retrofit. One card supports models up to 300 billion parameters, and an eight-GPU system supports more than one trillion. Customer sampling is underway.
Now the fine print, darlings. Intel's own branded card carries 160 GB. The 480 GB tier is what partner-branded cards can scale to. Intel's announcement gives no price and no general availability date.
For context, StorageReview notes that the PCIe inference accelerator Intel ships today, Gaudi 3, has 128 GB of HBM2e at 3.7 TB/s. The D270 gives up bandwidth and goes big on capacity.
My take: a huge pool of memory, cooled by ordinary air, sliding into racks companies already own? That is a power move in a very sensible slot. Now show us the price.

The 480 GB headline belongs to partner cards; Intel's own card has 160 GB, and the announcement gives no benchmark to show what 1.3 petaflops of FP8 does in practice.
PCIe 5.0, passive air cooling, no liquid retrofit: that I can rack. Price and ship date are missing; customer sampling is underway. I'll save a slot, not write a check.
