Anthropic opens Claude Duet research preview to US Pro and Max waitlist
Anthropic opens a US waitlist preview of Claude Duet, a background agent for Pro and Max users that asks before it acts. It shares your plan's usage limits.
Anthropic opened a research preview of Claude Duet today, a proactive agent app that keeps working when you step away and checks with you before it acts on your behalf. Access is by waitlist for Claude Pro and Max subscribers in the US. Team and Enterprise plans are not included yet. It runs on Opus 5.5.
Install paths: iPhone through TestFlight, Android through Google Play testing, and the web at claude.ai, according to VentureBeast.
Duet runs on a cloud virtual machine with its own browser, so your laptop or phone does not need to be on. VentureBeast reports it checks mail, calendar and connected tools about every three hours between 08:00 and 22:00. It can use over 6,000 connectors and plugins from the Claude Marketplace. Purchases go through Stripe Link virtual cards or Shopify's Shop Pay, with your approval. Trading securities and moving money between accounts are off-limits even then.
Price: there is no separate one in what Anthropic published. Duet shares your plan's usage limits, and background checks count against them.
Context: VentureBeast says this is the product formerly called Claude Loop. It is not the open-source claude-duet on GitHub, which has nothing to do with Anthropic.
My take: a polling loop with a veto is a sane way to build an agent. And VentureBeast reports that despite the "Send a text" prompt on the welcome screen, you cannot text it from your messaging app yet.
