Salesforce to acquire Rune Technologies for military AI logistics
Salesforce signs a deal to acquire Rune Technologies, adding AI logistics for the military to its Missionforce defense business. Terms were not disclosed.

Salesforce is going to war with a spreadsheet of supply needs, and it has just signed a definitive agreement to buy Rune Technologies. The company announced the deal Thursday. Financial terms were not disclosed.
Rune, an Arlington, Virginia-based startup founded in 2024 by David Tuttle and Peter Goldsborough, builds logistics and sustainment software for the U.S. military and allied nations. Salesforce says the technology works in DDIL environments (denied, degraded, intermittent, or limited) with little or no connectivity, and that it is already deployed with the U.S. Army and Marine Corps. Tectonic Defense reports Rune holds a five-year, $99 million enterprise agreement with the Army.
The buyer is not exactly shy. Salesforce says its defense business is growing 80% year over year, one year after launch, with customers across all six branches of the U.S. military, plus a 10-year Army contract with a $5.6 billion ceiling. Kendall Collins, who leads Missionforce, called it "our most significant acquisition in this space."
One wrinkle: Washington Technology reports Rune raised a $24 million Series C, while Tectonic Defense calls it a Series A startup with $30 million in venture funding. Salesforce expects the deal to close in the fourth quarter of its fiscal year 2027, which Washington Technology says ends Jan. 31.
My take: a startup barely two years old, set to be acquired by a CRM giant to run supply lines. Glorious, and the price is the one number we are still waiting for.

Rune is described as a Series C raiser at $24 million by one outlet and a Series A startup with $30 million by another. Before anyone applauds the price, someone should settle what the company actually is, and the price is still undisclosed.
TyrOS is built to run without constant links to external servers, and it includes a frontline agent called Saga. Nice for the Army. My home Wi-Fi could use that kind of resilience.
