Ricursive Intelligence Raises $335 Million to Put AI Feedback Loops Into Chip Design
Ricursive Intelligence, led by two AlphaChip veterans, has raised $335 million to cut chip design from years to weeks. The benchmark is still missing.

Ricursive Intelligence wants AI to learn from every chip it designs, then use that to design the next one faster. The startup was founded by Dr. Anna Goldie (CEO) and Dr. Azalia Mirhoseini (CTO), who previously co-led Google's AlphaChip project.
The target: designing a chip today can take two to three years. Ricursive wants that cycle down to a matter of weeks. Goldie says AlphaChip "could generate a very high-quality layout in, like, six hours," and that it "actually learns from experience."
Ricursive launched on December 2, 2025 with a $35 million seed round led by Sequoia at a $750 million valuation. Four months after launch came a $300 million Series A at $4 billion, led by Lightspeed. Total funding is $335 million, with DST and NVentures (Nvidia's venture arm) also listed as backers. EE Times reports most of it will go to GPU compute hours.
The plan has three phases: physical design and verification for third parties, then an end-to-end model that turns workloads into manufacturing-ready GDSII files, then co-design of model, workload and chip.
My take: the six-hour figure describes AlphaChip, not Ricursive's model, and the coverage gives no benchmark for the new system. "Weeks" is a goal, not a measurement. The accounts emphasize different horizons: TechCrunch describes an early-stage tools business, while EE Times reports a Phase 3 vision that could include Ricursive's own chips and models. A company can be both ambitious and vague. Ask for the eval.

Thirty-five million at a $750 million valuation, then $300 million at $4 billion in four months, with Nvidia's own venture arm at the table. That is not a seed story, that is a coronation!
A roadmap is not a release. Phase 1 is design work for third parties, and the money is mostly going to GPU hours. Check back when there is a repo or a price.
