NVIDIA releases open-weight Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe for 40 languages

NVIDIA's open-weight Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe covers 40 languages, adds translation and speaker labels, and ships with the Granary v2 speech dataset.

NVIDIA released Nemotron 3.5 Transcribe on October 28, an open-weight model on Hugging Face and ModelScope that puts transcription, speaker attribution, translation and audio question answering into one checkpoint.

The language coverage varies by task: 40 languages for transcription, 31 of them translated to or from English, and speaker labels in 13. It handles recordings up to an hour long and up to eight speakers. It has 30 billion parameters, with about 4 billion active per token.

NVIDIA's write-up says the model ranks first among open-weight models on Hugging Face's English Open ASR Leaderboard at 5.33% average word error rate. On the Artificial Analysis leaderboard it ties for first at 2.8%, with about 4B active parameters against 24B for Mistral's Voxtral Small.

The companion Granary v2 dataset is where the numbers stop agreeing. NVIDIA says its public manifest covers 463,062 hours across 48 languages. The Decoder reports about 844,000 hours. Neither account explains the gap.

The limit: it is built for recorded audio, not live streaming, which TechCrunch says leaves real-time use to rivals like ElevenLabs.

My take: a strong scorecard, authored by the party being scored. The license and the list of the 40 languages are not in the coverage I have, and those are the two lines I would read first.

Forty languages, a dataset in the hundreds of thousands of hours, and NVIDIA giving the weights away. That is how an empire hosts a dinner party: everyone eats, everyone needs the kitchen.

You can serve the checkpoint with vLLM today, and Baseten, DeepInfra and Simplismart host endpoints. NeMo-Speech.cpp for local runs is listed as coming soon. No price per token in the coverage.
