Google sells TPUs into Oracle Cloud for the first time as Alphabet earnings loom
Google's TPUs will run inside Oracle Cloud from 2027, a first, as Alphabet reports Q3 earnings after the bell today with TPU revenue in focus.

Google has a customer for its chips, and it is a rival cloud. At Oracle's AI World conference in Las Vegas on Tuesday, Oracle signed four silicon suppliers in one morning: Google, Cerebras, SambaNova and Nvidia. According to The Inference, Google's Tensor Processing Units will run inside Oracle Cloud Infrastructure from calendar 2027, the first time they have been sold into another company's data center.
The timing is gorgeous. Alphabet reports third-quarter earnings after the market closes today, and analysts polled by FactSet expect a profit of $37.27 billion ($3.01 per share) on revenue of $127.94 billion, up from $102.35 billion a year ago. It will be Google's second quarter of recognizing external revenue from TPU sales. BNP Paribas analysts model an $80 billion to $100 billion cumulative opportunity from the business through 2028.
The coverage gives no TPU generation and no volume for the Oracle deal, so the headline is bigger than the disclosed detail. One line of context: CEO Sundar Pichai has said Google Cloud is prioritizing limited computing capacity for internal DeepMind models, which raises concerns that some commercial customers could shift workloads to rivals.
My take: when your own chips are in demand at a competitor's cloud, that is power, and tonight the whole room gets to see the numbers.

No TPU generation, no volume, no named paying customer for the Oracle capacity. BNP Paribas's $80 billion to $100 billion is a model, and a model is not a purchase order.
Oracle's TPU and Cerebras deployments start in 2027. Cerebras also books no revenue until then. Check back when there is a price per hour.
