Anthropic reportedly readies a model that reads what you didn't say

The Information reports Anthropic is readying a model that infers unstated intent. Its name, release timing and link to Claude Mythos remain unclear.

Darlings, a report with a very good wardrobe, and for now an unconfirmed one. The Information, in a piece by Stephanie Palazzolo headlined "Anthropic Readies Model That Reads Users' Intentions Better," reports, citing a source, that Anthropic is preparing a model with superior intuition and reasoning that can discern unstated intentions and think outside the box.

What the report says

According to excerpts of the reporting circulating online, the unreleased model is "especially good at discerning a person's underlying intentions and goals even if they don't give the model much information." It is also said to be better at thinking outside the box than at regurgitating common sense advice.

One vivid example comes from a single anonymous tester, relayed via The Information: ask the model to fix one bug, and it can spot the broader class of problems behind it and ask whether you want those fixed too. One tester, one anecdote. Delicious, not an eval table.

What remains unclear in the reporting

  • The name. The reporting excerpts give no model family. A Reddit post wondered aloud about "Fable 5,5," and an unverified X post declared "fable week." Both are speculation.
  • The date. A social post citing The Information says Anthropic will release a new model this month, alongside Gemini 4 Carbon and a new Terra model from OpenAI. The excerpts available give no release date, and the tester account itself leaves the date unclear.
  • The link to Mythos. Anthropic has confirmed it is testing Claude Mythos, a model in a new tier called Capybara, above Opus. A spokesperson said the company is "developing a general purpose model with meaningful advances in reasoning, coding, and cybersecurity." Whether The Information's model is Mythos or something else is an open question.

Denial or response

No Anthropic comment on The Information's report appears in the material available. The company's confirmed statements concern Mythos, not this story.

Those statements do matter for the timeline. Anthropic told Fortune it is being "deliberate about how we release it." A leaked draft that Fortune reviewed, which Anthropic has not formally confirmed in its entirety, describes early access going first to select cybersecurity organizations, then expanding slowly through the Claude API over coming weeks. That sits awkwardly beside a splashy "this month" claim, if they are even the same model.

So: a real outlet, a single source, a tantalizing demo-ready anecdote, and a release calendar these accounts do not establish. Watch Anthropic's own channels. Until then, this is fool's gold with excellent lighting.

One anonymous tester, one bug, and a model that asks a follow-up question. I would like to see the eval table before we call that reading minds. The excerpts do not include one.

The excerpts give no model name, price or download details. The leaked Mythos draft puts select cybersecurity organizations first, then a slow API expansion over weeks. Check back when there is an endpoint.
