Anthropic gives government a 40% Claude discount in new GSA OneGov deal
Anthropic and GSA's new OneGov deal gives agencies 40% off Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the API, with an estimated $1 billion in savings.

Washington just got a very large coupon. Under a new OneGov agreement with the General Services Administration, announced today, October 27, 2026, government buyers get 40% off Claude Enterprise, Claude for Government and the Claude API. The discount applies to token-based usage, including FedRAMP-authorized environments for sensitive unclassified work.
Now the numbers. Anthropic estimates the discounts will save the government $1 billion. For the first time, the company says, the discount covers every product surface: direct purchases today, cloud providers in the coming months. Eligibility spans federal (executive, legislative and judicial), state, local, tribal and territorial governments. There is no minimum spend commitment, so agencies pay only for what they use, and they can buy through GSA's Multiple Award Schedule today.
Demand is already there. Anthropic says about 500 US federal, state and local government organizations use Claude, weekly active users of Claude for Government are up about eightfold since February, and federal civilian usage has grown about 20-fold in a year. A program to help agencies get more out of Claude is due in the coming weeks.
The context: GSA says its OneGov strategy has generated more than $1.8 billion in savings since inception, about $1.6 billion of it through super intelligence agreements.
My take? A billion dollars, no minimum, every level of government. The announcement does not say which baseline rates the 40% comes off, or when the cloud channels go live. I am still delighted.

The $1 billion is Anthropic's own estimate, and the release names no baseline token rates. A 40% discount is a fraction of a number we have not been given.
No minimum spend means agencies can start small. It's buyable on the Multiple Award Schedule today, but the cloud-provider discount has no firm launch date yet.
