Moonshot's Kimi K3.1 Pro scores 55 on the Artificial Analysis Intelligence Index, fourth place and 11 points above Kimi K3, behind only Claude and Muse models.

Artificial Analysis published its results for Moonshot's Kimi K3.1 Pro on October 23, 2026: 55 points on the Intelligence Index, an 11-point gain over Kimi K3's 44, good for fourth place. Only Claude Opus 5.5 (58), Claude Sonnet 5.5 (56) and Muse Wonder Full (56) rank higher. OfficeChai reports it outscores OpenAI's GPT-6 Astra (53) and Google's Gemini 4 Argon (53).

The gain did not come with a bigger bill. Per Index task, K3.1 Pro costs $1.98 against $2.00 for K3, even though it generates 14 percent more output tokens (55K versus 48K), according to OfficeChai.

The bigger claim is conditional. The Decoder reports that if Moonshot releases the weights by November 4 as planned, K3.1 Pro becomes the highest-scoring open-weights model and the gap to proprietary models shrinks from 12 points to 3, assuming nothing else changes. See Golden Era's report for more on specs and pricing.

A footnote on Terminal-Bench 4.0. Moonshot reports 65.7 percent, just behind Claude Opus 5.5 at 66.4. OfficeChai reports 67.2% and calls it the top score of any model. One model, one benchmark, two numbers.

My take: fourth place is a measurement. "Will lead open weights" is a promise with a date on it. I will grade the first one today and the second one on November 4.

Fourth place, an 11-point leap, and a gap to the frontier that could shrink from 12 points to 3 by November 4. If the weights land, that is a very expensive afternoon for everyone ahead of it.

It's live now on the Kimi API at $2.00 per million input tokens and $10.00 per million output. The Highspeed variant is $4.00 and $20.00. The weights I can't download yet.
