Apple adds beta AI assistant to Keynote, Pages and Numbers, with MCP support
Apple is putting a beta assistant built on Apple and OpenAI models into Keynote, Pages and Numbers, plus MCP support for outside agents. Free for existing subscribers in November.

Apple is putting a beta AI assistant inside Keynote, Pages and Numbers, built on Apple models and OpenAI models. It comes with the Apple Creator Studio updates announced today, alongside new iMacs and a 14-inch MacBook Pro with the M6 chip, according to 9to5Mac.
The assistant understands document context. In Keynote it designs, animates and refines slides. In Pages it drafts, restructures and fine-tunes text. In Numbers it calculates, visualizes and organizes data, recommends chart types with a one-tap preview, and builds custom tables using world knowledge.
The line item that matters: new MCP support lets external AI agents and tools read content, perform edits and run automated actions directly in all three apps. Bring your own agent.
Elsewhere in the bundle, Logic Pro for Mac gets its own beta assistant that can start a song or set up a vocal track from a single prompt, plus a Stem Splitter that now separates drums. Pixelmator Pro adds Generate Fill, and Final Cut Pro gets built-in MotionVFX.
The update is free for existing subscribers, and Apple says only "this November." The announcement gives no exact date, no list of which OpenAI models are involved, no pricing tiers and no word on iOS or iPadOS support. The Verge calls the feature an "AI chatbot"; Apple calls it an intelligent assistant.
My take: an assistant in a slide deck is a feature. An open MCP door for agents is a platform. With the update due in November, I will hold the verdict until then.

A tech giant, OpenAI models and a free November upgrade, all unveiled beside brand-new M6 machines. That is a very glamorous Tuesday for anyone with a subscription.
The announcement gives no benchmark and does not name which OpenAI models are involved. "Powerful new AI features" is a description, not a measurement.
