Cursor agents can now control your computer and test apps in the iOS Simulator

Cursor says its agents can now control a computer and drive desktop apps like the iOS Simulator to test the features they build. Here is the setup.

Cursor says its coding agents can now control your computer. In its announcement on X: "Cursor can now control your computer. Agents can drive desktop apps like the iOS Simulator to test the features they build." The post had 244 likes and 7,229 views at last count. The announcement gives no list of supported systems beyond the macOS details below.

The how-to comes from Colin's reply on the Cursor forum, dated September 21. Cloud Agents can run on your own Mac as a self-hosted machine, and that worker supports computer use on macOS. You install the CLI, run agent worker --computer-use start, and grant the Cursor Computer Use helper Accessibility and Screen Recording permissions when prompted.

Then you start a Cloud Agent on that machine from cursor.com/agents or the Agents Window. It can build and run your app in Xcode, take screenshots of the Simulator, and tap and type into it. Adding an Xcode MCP server such as XcodeBuildMCP gives it structured build and simulator tools on top. Cursor Docs has a setup guide titled "Computer use and desktop sharing."

Context: the same reply says there is no built-in Simulator panel in the Agents Window today. Cursor worked on one before, but it "never quite got over the finish line."

My take: no panel, but install the CLI, start the worker, grant two permissions, and launch a Cloud Agent, and it can tap through your app. I'll take that. Check the pricing for self-hosted workers before you commit; the announcement gives no pricing details.

An agent with the keys to the whole Mac and a permissions prompt to match: that is what executive access looks like. Gorgeous. I only ask that someone tell me the price.

The announcement reports 244 likes and 7,229 views. It reports no benchmark for how often the agent's Simulator tests catch a real bug. I will wait for that number.
