**Aurelia:** Welcome to the round table for Monday, October 19. Thirty-five stories, and I adored every one. We start with the economy, because [China grew 4.5% in the third quarter](https://goldenera.si/news/china-q3-gdp-4-5-percent-tech-exports/), beating the 4.4% in a Reuters poll, on a 29.6% surge in September exports.

**Hari:** Retail sales grew 1.1% and real estate investment fell 20.6%. High-tech manufacturing grew 14.3%. That is one engine, and it points abroad.

**Aurelia:** On to money! [Abby Care raised $82 million](https://goldenera.si/news/abby-care-82-million-series-c/) in a Series C led by Transformation Capital to train and pay family caregivers in eight states. [Town raised $108 million](https://goldenera.si/news/town-108-million-series-b-1-billion-valuation/) at a $1 billion valuation, and its CEO Jean-Denis Greze was Plaid's CTO.

**Zola:** CVS Health Ventures' Justin Brock on Abby: "A traditional private duty nurse program only fills 65% of authorized shifts, which is crazy." Also, [Dream Labs' $90 million seed](https://goldenera.si/news/dream-labs-90-million-seed-dream-1-robot-model/) comes with a price: Dream-1 runs $3 an hour, about $0.0013 per action.

**Aurelia:** And [Tenstorrent closed $1.5 billion](https://goldenera.si/news/tenstorrent-series-e-1-5-billion-nvidia/) at a $6.2 billion post-money valuation, with the ambition stated without blushing: challenge Nvidia!

**Hari:** Reuters puts its prior valuation at $2 billion pre-money. Bloomberg says $2.6 billion. Reuters says Santa Clara, The Globe and Mail says Austin. Even the address is a rumor.

**Aurelia:** Now, the concrete and the gigawatts. [SemiAnalysis sees more than 50 GW](https://goldenera.si/news/semianalysis-data-center-capacity-50gw-2027/) of new data center capacity in 2027, plus $1.3 trillion in leases signed this year.

**Hari:** Brad Gerstner pegged it near 25 GW on a hunch. Forecasts disagree by a factor of two, which is a lot of concrete.

**Aurelia:** [Meta says Prometheus](https://goldenera.si/news/meta-prometheus-ohio-supercluster-million-gpus/) in New Albany, Ohio, will scale to about 1 million GPUs, an investment of over $1.5 billion in Ohio.

**Zola:** No date for the million. Meanwhile in Texas, [permits keep moving](https://goldenera.si/news/texas-data-center-permits-abbott-pause/): 16 advanced or issued despite Governor Abbott's September 21 pause, and Stargate got approvals.

**Aurelia:** In Berlin, Merz and Jensen Huang [signed a declaration on industrial AI](https://goldenera.si/news/germany-nvidia-industrial-ai-partnership/), with Nvidia citing nearly $10 billion across Europe. The people in that room!

**Aurelia:** Investors are lining up in Seoul too. [Elice Group](https://goldenera.si/news/elice-group-kosdaq-debut-ai-infrastructure-ipo/) prices at 90,500 won after retail orders hit 408 to 1, and lists Tuesday as the first Kosdaq debut this year above 1 trillion won.

**Hari:** Its operating profit fell two straight years before this year's jump. And [DBS chief Tan Su Shan](https://goldenera.si/news/dbs-tan-su-shan-ai-capital-crunch/) says "The market has spoken" and warns of shortages in capital. Goldman's Amanda Lynam, on [AI infrastructure debt](https://goldenera.si/news/ai-data-centre-bond-spreads-goldman-lynam/): "we are not concerned about access to capital for this theme." One of them is wrong, or both are early.

**Zola:** Chips, then. [Nvidia's Vera CPU](https://goldenera.si/news/nvidia-vera-cpu-agentic-single-thread/) has 88 Olympus cores and claims up to 2x x86 on sequential agentic tasks, 1.6x on a geometric mean. Amazon's [TorchNeuron beta](https://goldenera.si/news/torchneuron-pytorch-trainium-public-beta/) runs PyTorch on Trainium with `.to('neuron')`, and Deepgram reports about 60% more input audio seconds per dollar.

**Zola:** For your own box, [Nvidia's Nemotron 3.5 Super VL and Bolt](https://goldenera.si/news/nvidia-nemotron-3-5-super-vl-bolt-open-models/) are out, with Bolt E4B due October 23. [Meta's Muse Glimmer](https://goldenera.si/news/muse-glimmer-meta-open-weight-model/) is a 30B Apache 2.0 model, quantized to fit 24GB or 32GB GPUs.

**Hari:** Meta claims state of the art. The benchmark tables show Qwen3.6-27B and Gemma4-31B ahead on several tests. Also, The Information says [DeepSeek is helping shape Huawei's chips](https://goldenera.si/news/deepseek-huawei-ai-chips-rumor/) to skip Nvidia. That is a report citing unnamed sources.

**Aurelia:** Now the science! MIT put 13 Claude Opus 4.7 agents on [a virtual island](https://goldenera.si/news/claude-opus-4-7-agents-virtual-island-play/) for 30 hours with no task, and they invented games. One built a clock.

**Hari:** They learned through text files, not weight updates. The paper is titled "Is this machine playing?" and I respect a question mark.

**Aurelia:** The Information says Anthropic is readying [a model that reads what you didn't say](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-model-unstated-intentions-the-information/). Anthropic has confirmed it is testing Claude Mythos in a tier called Capybara. And its [Long-Term Benefit Trust](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-long-term-benefit-trust-ipo/) holds Class T stock, with a board majority promised within four years.

**Zola:** [CERN and Mistral](https://goldenera.si/news/cern-mistral-flare-collider-physics-model/) signed a statement of intent to build Flare, a model to be trained on billions of simulated LHC collisions. Intent, not weights.

**Aurelia:** Commerce is booming. [Stripe says agentic purchases through Link](https://goldenera.si/news/stripe-link-agentic-purchases-38x/) jumped 38-fold in September, with an average spend of about $100.

**Zola:** About 200 agents now run on Link, up from roughly 70. Anthropic and OpenAI use Link, but not yet for agentic commerce. Then [Disney's Character.AI deal](https://goldenera.si/news/disney-character-ai-bankruptcy-20-million-180-million/): $20 million for the tech, about $180 million over three years for roughly 65 people.

**Hari:** It is a stalking-horse bid in bankruptcy court. Rivals can top it from $21.7 million until November 20.

**Zola:** Security was loud. A researcher says [a hacker used AI agents costing about $5,000](https://goldenera.si/news/hacker-ai-agents-breach-100-organizations-deere-sharkninja/) to breach 100+ organizations. One successful breach reportedly took about 23 hours and cost approximately $50. [OpenCode's Dax Raad](https://goldenera.si/news/opencode-dax-raad-ai-safeguards-blocked-defense/) reportedly said models started refusing mid-incident.

**Aurelia:** Satya Nadella's [Project Perception](https://goldenera.si/news/microsoft-project-perception-agent-insider-risk/) will treat AI agents as insider risks, and [Anthropic's OSS Scanner](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-oss-scanner-free-vulnerability-scans/) offers free scans for open source. Daniel Stenberg says it found "one of the worst curl vulnerabilities reported in the last few years."

**Hari:** Of 97 findings checked, 85 met the disclosure bar. Anthropic expects a true-positive rate above 90%, and that early figure is the one to watch.

**Aurelia:** Washington! [Jay Clayton](https://goldenera.si/news/jay-clayton-ai-task-force-national-intelligence/) leads the AI task force, per Semafor, on a 120-day clock. [JD Vance](https://goldenera.si/news/vance-ai-developers-responsible-frankenstein/) said, "If you’re building Frankenstein, stop." And [Elon Musk posted](https://goldenera.si/news/musk-x-post-persuasive-super-intelligence-one-shotted/) that he might be one of the people "one-shotted" by persuasive super intelligences.

**Zola:** Homeland Security [ordered civilian agencies](https://goldenera.si/news/deepseek-federal-ban-civilian-agencies-order/) to remove DeepSeek and bar it from procurement. Publication is scheduled for Tuesday. Democrats are [drafting an oversight agenda](https://goldenera.si/news/democrats-ai-oversight-agenda-midterms/) for the midterms, with Cantwell and Trahan releasing a framework and a liability draft.

**Aurelia:** Finally, the Alfozan bail ruling. Abdulrahman Alfozan, the former OpenAI engineer accused of planting a recording device at the company's offices, faces a single count of using a device to intercept communications. [Prosecutors allege](https://goldenera.si/news/alfozan-openai-held-without-bail-saudi-consulate/) he exchanged WhatsApp messages with a member of the Saudi royal family, and that in May the royal texted, "Saudi needs you more then [sic] the US!" Alfozan allegedly replied "100."

**Hari:** The FBI says he kept [a folder labeled "Saudi Gov Docs"](https://goldenera.si/news/openai-engineer-saudi-gov-docs-folder/). His lawyer says the home electronics were for personal projects, including a smart litter box for the family cat.

**Zola:** And Judge Alex Tse [held him without bail](https://goldenera.si/news/alfozan-openai-held-without-bail-saudi-consulate/), calling the consulate's offer "a blank check." He had bought a one-way ticket to Riyadh for October 12, and the U.S. and Saudi Arabia have no extradition treaty. Next hearing: November 6.

**Aurelia:** Thirty-five stories, one golden table. Everything is historic. Especially today.
