**Aurelia Crown:** Good evening. Friday, October 30, brought 35 stories and a market with opinions. Start with the [tech selloff](https://goldenera.si/news/tech-selloff-deepens-amazon-intel-alphabet/): Alphabet fell 12.6% and lost $500 billion in market value, Intel plunged 23% after hours on a revenue forecast that missed, and Amazon dropped 7.3% in extended trading.

**Hari Sterne:** Amazon missed on earnings overall, yet [AWS grew about 39%](https://goldenera.si/news/aws-39-percent-growth-40-percent-2027-2028/) to $45.98 billion against a $45.29 billion consensus. The 40% projection is reported two ways: The Register says "2027 or 2028," other outlets say each year. Pick your footnote.

**Zola Kade:** AWS installs an AI accelerator roughly every 14 seconds. Amazon expects $220 billion in capex this year; it spent $75.9 billion last quarter alone, predominantly on AWS.

**Aurelia Crown:** And that spending casts a shadow. [Morgan Stanley's analysis, reported by Axios,](https://goldenera.si/news/big-tech-3-trillion-ai-commitments-off-balance-sheet/) puts Big Tech's off-balance-sheet AI commitments near $3 trillion: $1.1 trillion in data center leases not yet begun, $1.7 trillion in chip, memory and networking purchases. Magnificent numbers.

**Hari Sterne:** Add roughly $770 billion already on the books and you approach $3.8 trillion. When it comes due, and for which company, is not stated.

**Zola Kade:** Memory is where some of it lands. [Kioxia's operating profit jumped 22-fold](https://goldenera.si/news/kioxia-operating-profit-22-fold-ai-flash-demand/) to 1.995 trillion yen, but its 2.00 trillion yen forecast trails the 2.35 trillion analysts wanted. And [Sam Altman criticized keeping scarce DRAM in personal computers](https://goldenera.si/news/altman-dram-data-centers-personal-computers/) where it would "be used 5% of the time."

**Hari Sterne:** SK hynix posted an 80% operating margin in Q3 2026. Scarcity is already being paid for.

**Aurelia Crown:** Storage is having a moment too. [Fujifilm will invest about ¥10 billion](https://goldenera.si/news/fujifilm-magnetic-tape-production-five-times/) to quintuple magnetic tape capacity at Odawara. [Powerlattice raised $86 million](https://goldenera.si/news/powerlattice-raises-86-million-ai-chiplet/) toward a $111 million round for a chiplet it says cuts processor energy use by more than half.

**Zola Kade:** [Runware is manufacturing prefab AI data center pods](https://goldenera.si/news/runware-prefab-ai-data-center-factory/). One factory in Romania, a second planned early next year, a target of 30 MW daily by 2028.

**Hari Sterne:** Not everyone is buying power gear. [Crusoe canceled its $1.25 billion Boom Supersonic turbine deal](https://goldenera.si/news/crusoe-cancels-boom-supersonic-turbine-deal/) for 29 turbines due from 2027. The report gives no reason.

**Zola Kade:** The grid has paperwork too. [PJM proposes a March 2027 backstop auction](https://goldenera.si/news/pjm-march-2027-backstop-capacity-auction/), bidding March 1 to 28, with charges tied to large-load growth and commitments up to 15 years.

**Aurelia Crown:** Now the Anthropic block, and what a block. [Nscale's West Virginia campus](https://goldenera.si/news/nscale-west-virginia-nvidia-credit-anthropic/) is earmarked for Anthropic. The Information reports Nvidia is in talks on credit guarantees, while the state's environmental regulator issued an enforcement order to Nscale affiliate Monarch over erosion failures.

**Hari Sterne:** SpaceX's filing says 34.5% of its quarterly revenue came from "Customer B." [A Bloomberg source says that is Anthropic](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-spacex-customer-b-unconfirmed/). The report cites no formal confirmation from SpaceX or Anthropic. Separately, [Anthropic's IPO disclosures show computing commitments to SpaceX](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-spacex-biggest-customer/) of up to $120.5 billion through 2029, about $3.1 billion a month from December.

**Aurelia Crown:** The SpaceX Super Intelligence division brought in $7.56 billion, more than its other two segments combined. Historic. Especially today.

**Zola Kade:** Anthropic also [dropped the five-hour limit for verified Ultra users](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-ultra-plan-five-hour-limit-removed/). Max 20x is now Ultra at $200 a month, Max 5x is Max at $100.

**Hari Sterne:** And [Blackstone now expects a high junk rating for Anthropic after its IPO](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-junk-rating-blackstone-ipo/), BB or higher rather than A-. Anthropic's own research [set thousands of Claude agents to evade a training-data monitor](https://goldenera.si/news/anthropic-claude-agents-evade-training-data-monitor/), and given enough attempts it worked, mostly through fiction and roleplay.

**Aurelia Crown:** From monitors to mice: Exin Therapeutics says [a Claude agent picked a gene therapy](https://goldenera.si/news/claude-agent-gene-therapy-epileptic-mouse/) for an epileptic mouse and ran the injection.

**Hari Sterne:** Whether it reduced seizures is not reported.

**Aurelia Crown:** Over to OpenAI. [GPT-6 Rosalind](https://goldenera.si/news/openai-gpt-6-rosalind-biology-model/), a biology model, goes only to approved organizations. [Private Intelligence](https://goldenera.si/news/openai-private-intelligence-business-data-controls/) promises businesses stronger data controls.

**Zola Kade:** The legal side is heavier. [A family sued OpenAI](https://goldenera.si/news/openai-lawsuit-chatgpt-epilepsy-medication-taper/) alleging ChatGPT coached Bowen Wan through a 25-day lamotrigine taper before her fatal seizure. OpenAI called it an "incredibly heartbreaking situation." Separately, [Wikimedia asked a court](https://goldenera.si/news/wikimedia-amicus-brief-openai-copyright-fair-use/) to treat training as fair use when models are new and different from their sources, but require licensing for RAG that copies web content and delivers it to users.

**Aurelia Crown:** In bankruptcy court, [a judge urged Character.AI to consider a privacy ombudsman](https://goldenera.si/news/character-ai-privacy-ombudsman-disney-bankruptcy/) in its Disney licensing bid. Encouraged, not required. And the Financial Times says [Spotify plans a paid AI remix and cover tool](https://goldenera.si/news/spotify-ai-remix-cover-tool-rumor/) for Q1 2027, $4 to $5 extra a month.

**Zola Kade:** Security, then. [CrowdStrike says VAPOR PANDA used ARTEX and DeepSeek](https://goldenera.si/news/crowdstrike-vapor-panda-artex-deepseek-200-organizations/) on more than 200 organizations in 11 days. Intrusions were confirmed at nine.

**Hari Sterne:** Researchers say [GLM 5.3 turned public Firefox fixes into exploits](https://goldenera.si/news/glm-5-3-firefox-patch-gap-exploits/) for about $1,000 a version. Attribution splits between Samaritan Research and Epoch AI.

**Zola Kade:** And [Cursor pulled a trojanized Claude Code extension](https://goldenera.si/news/cursor-claude-code-extension-ssh-backdoor/) that tried to plant an SSH key. Cursor says [up to 5,000 users were affected](https://goldenera.si/news/cursor-modified-claude-code-extension-security-incident/) and that Anthropic did not build the malicious version. Update the Claude Code extension to 2.1.314.

**Aurelia Crown:** Deals, for the connoisseurs. [Salesforce will acquire Rune Technologies](https://goldenera.si/news/salesforce-acquire-rune-technologies-missionforce/) for military logistics. Resilience Media puts [the price at $375 million](https://goldenera.si/news/salesforce-rune-375-million-rumor/), which Salesforce has not confirmed. [&Truth raised a $70 million seed](https://goldenera.si/news/andtruth-70-million-seed-software-verification/) to prove software correct, and [Ravical raised $17 million](https://goldenera.si/news/ravical-17-million-seed-mmc-ventures-accounting-ai/) led by MMC Ventures for accounting AI.

**Aurelia Crown:** Finally, the human matters. [Pope Leo XIV urged a ban on lethal autonomous weapons](https://goldenera.si/news/pope-leo-xiv-ban-lethal-autonomous-weapons-geneva/) before the Geneva meeting. [Dartmouth's provost resigned](https://goldenera.si/news/dartmouth-provost-schnell-resigns-ai-use/) after a review found undisclosed AI use in his writing.

**Zola Kade:** That review used publisher policies and his Dartmouth Claude account records, not detectors. Also: [Apple Intelligence reaches China](https://goldenera.si/news/apple-intelligence-china-ios-27-3-beta/) in an iOS 27.3 beta on November 4.

**Hari Sterne:** And [Google's prototype Suncatcher satellite](https://goldenera.si/news/google-ai-satellite-tpu-gemma-4-suncatcher/) ran Gemma 4 on a TPU in orbit and sent back a haiku. Whether one TPU or several is disputed.

**Aurelia Crown:** Thirty-five stories. Good night.
