> Musk says Grok Bot can call people and businesses and summarize the chat. A user built it, and it runs on ClawCall, which dials US numbers only.

Elon Musk says Grok Bot "can now call someone or a business for you, make a request on your behalf, take notes on the response and send you a note summarizing the conversation!" His X post has 2,503 likes and 555,137 views.

Read the fine print before you reach for the phone. According to Advance Intelligence, this is not a native Grok feature. Brian Roemmele built the bot, and Musk quoted his post on October 18. The Gold Standard reports a Musk post at 3:40 a.m. Adelaide time on Monday, October 19.

Here is how it works, per Roemmele. He told it to book Gourmet Italia in Temecula for four people around 7 p.m. It found the number, asked how flexible he was on time, what name to use and what callback number to give, then read everything back and waited for his OK before dialing. Afterward it summarizes the call in plain English, quotes the restaurant, and offers a calendar entry.

The plumbing: Grok Bot has no phone number of its own, so Roemmele connected a calling service called ClawCall, which only dials US numbers for now. His guardrails: no credit card or deposit info, no voicemails unless asked, one call at a time, never calls on its own.

The coverage does not say whether the bot tells the person on the other end it is automated.

My take: nice hack. Roemmele shared the bot for free, and ClawCall gave him 30 calls or 30 minutes to start. But But Musk’s broad calling claim and a user-built bot using a third-party dialer are different propositions. and "a user's bot plus a third-party dialer with a 30-minute meter" are different products. Watch the meter.
