> Google's Gemini 4 Argon is generally available in GitHub Copilot for coding, agentic and reasoning work. Here is who gets it, where, and how it is billed.

Google's Gemini 4 Argon is now generally available in GitHub Copilot, GitHub said in a changelog post on October 13. GitHub calls it Google's newest frontier model, designed for complex coding, agentic and reasoning tasks.

Here is how to access it. Access goes to Copilot Pro+, Max, Business and Enterprise users. Pick it in the model picker in Visual Studio Code, Visual Studio, Copilot CLI, GitHub Copilot coding agent, the GitHub Copilot app, JetBrains IDEs, Xcode and Eclipse. Rollout is gradual, so your picker may not show it yet.

Price: the model is billed at provider list pricing under usage-based billing. The post gives no rate. Check your usage meter before you point an agent at a monorepo.

The performance claim: in early testing, GitHub says, Gemini 4 Argon solved more tasks than previous Gemini models on every coding benchmark, with its largest gains in Copilot CLI. GitHub also says it thoroughly checks its work, testing edge cases before it finishes. The post names no benchmarks and gives no scores.

Admins: Copilot Enterprise and Business administrators can manage access through the model policy in Copilot settings. Under default model enablement, new models switch on automatically unless an admin turned off the global default or explicitly disables this one.

My take: "better than previous Gemini" is a low bar to clear and a useful one to know. The real test is your repo, your tests and your bill. Run it on something you can afford to throw away first.
