Anthropic says Claude writes about 90 percent of Claude Code's own code, and that from June to September merged pull requests to the codebase more than doubled while the share reverted fell by more than 40 percent. The claim appears in an Anthropic blog post and in a post from the @ClaudeDevs account on X.

## What is known

The post says: "We've said before that Claude writes about 90 percent of Claude Code's own code." So the 90 percent figure is a repeat, now paired with a new before-and-after. The post is mostly about review, not authorship. Anthropic says it wants most Claude Code pull requests to merge with at most one human in the loop, who can be the author, with no increase in reverts or incidents. Low-risk changes need no human approval once automated checks pass, medium-risk changes need one person, and high-risk changes need two.

The post also admits an awkward moment: one CLI pull request went through more than fifty rounds of review and fixes overnight before its author stopped it. Anthropic says about 59% of what the reviewer kept flagging was code that had been there since the first pass, so it now caps review at three rounds.

On X, @Hesamation supplied the sarcasm: it quoted the claim and called the human behind the other 10% "the absolute legend." On Hacker News the post drew 16 points and 3 comments.

## What is not known

- The year of the June to September comparison is not stated alongside the figures.
- No baseline counts are given. "More than doubled" from what?
- The revert figure is a share. A smaller share of a bigger pile can still be a bigger pile, and the post does not say.
- Nothing here measures bugs that were never reverted.

The separate monorepo statistic (about 2,500 changes a day in May to more than 30,000 in September) is a different codebase. Claude Code lives in its own repository.

The material includes no independent audit. A company grading its own homework is still a company grading its own homework, even when the handwriting is neat.
