# Anthropic's managed Claude API is now generally available on Google Cloud

Anthropic's managed Claude API is now generally available on Google Cloud. The product is called Claude Models on Google Cloud (Anthropic managed), and the Claude release notes announcing it are dated October 22, 2026. Anthropic operates the API, and you reach it through your Google Cloud project. Google Cloud IAM controls access. Google Cloud Marketplace handles billing.

Anthropic says you get the full set of Claude Platform features, plus IAM credentials, billing and commitment retirement. Google's documentation says new models and research previews arrive the same day Anthropic releases them. Fast mode is available for Claude Opus 5.5. Billing is pay as you go, or a fixed fee for provisioned throughput.

The fine print matters. Google's documentation says that if a prohibited reseller manages your Google Cloud billing account, you cannot accept the Terms of Service or enable Claude models. For access through Google's Agent Platform, enable aiplatform.googleapis.com; the model name goes in the endpoint URL, and anthropic_version goes in the request body, not a header.

What the material does not include: per-token rates, provisioned throughput costs, commitment retirement terms, or the list of prohibited resellers.

Context: Google's docs now call the platform Gemini Enterprise Agent Platform, not Vertex AI, though the API endpoint is the same.

My take: this is plumbing, and plumbing is the point. Your existing IAM and your existing bill, with Anthropic running the API. Publish the price list and I will link it.
