Money has found the Medicare maze. Baba, the New York company that surrounds Medicare and Medicaid patients with care coordinators, licensed therapists and AI agents, has raised a $40 million Series A led by FirstMark Capital. The wire release is dated October 20. The round brings Baba's total funding to $47 million.

CVS Health Ventures and Valtruis are new investors. General Catalyst, Genius Ventures and Ground Up Ventures returned. The company says the cash will go to AI research, clinical care teams, health plan partnerships and value-based arrangements.

The traction, as Baba reports it: more than 10,000 patients and families supported, and more than 100,000 families on the waiting list. In June, the Centers for Medicare & Medicaid Services selected Baba for the ACCESS Model, a 10-year test of technology-supported chronic care, across all four of its clinical tracks. Baba also released BabaBench, a benchmark for whether agents can finish long patient advocacy jobs without privacy violations or prohibited actions, now on arXiv and accepted to an upcoming NeurIPS workshop.

The context is nearly 70 million Americans on Medicare, per Baba. Carter Prince of CVS Health Ventures puts the bet plainly: "Navigating healthcare is not a challenge that can be solved by general AI agents." Baba was founded in 2025, according to Fierce Healthcare.

My take: a federal 10-year pilot, a pharmacy giant's venture arm and a 100,000-family waiting list in under two years? That is a stampede, darlings. The valuation is not in the materials, but the demand is on the record.
